The electronic databases are produced by a variety of academic publishers that compile, index and organize the contents of thousands of academic journals, popular magazines, newspapers, government documents, full text reference sources, videos and websites. Each database has a unique name and search software that allows students to search the contents by keyword, subject, author, article title, journal name, and a number of other access points.  All of the contents indexed in a database provide complete citation information and have been checked for authenticity by the publishing company.

PHSC subscribes to over 100 databases in a wide variety of subject areas, including Arts & Humanities, Business, Education, Health and Medicine, News and Current Events, Reference, Science, and the Social Sciences.
